With Valentine's Day quickly approaching, the word love and the meaning behind it have been on my mind a lot, therefore, it lead to this lovely blog post about my thoughts on love. Enjoy!
What is love? Now, I decided too look up the exact definition and this is what I got...
1. (1) : strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties (2) : attraction based on sexual desire : affection and tenderness felt by lovers (3) : affection based on admiration, benevolence, or common interests
2. warm attachment, enthusiasm, or devotion
2. warm attachment, enthusiasm, or devotion
3. unselfish loyal and benevolent concern for the good of another
Have you ever been in love? I have. It's an extraordinary experience. It's something that I don't take for granted anymore. It's something I wont take lightly anymore. Through my experiences, I learned a lot about what it takes for someone to love someone. I also learned that love is more than just a word that is said. It's an action that needs to be expressed. I put emphasis on the word need because love needs action to survive. The word itself can only take you so far and eventually it just starts to become a word. It's no longer a feeling or an action... It's simply a word. My point here is to recognize that your actions speak louder than words and that love is also a fantastic thing. Loving someone the right way and being loved by someone the right way, is simply indescribable. The other point I have here is to never settle for less than you deserve. Recognize when you know something isn't right and do something about it. Love shouldn't be hurting you. Love should be making you happy. Along with loving the right way, you also need to love yourself. Valentine's Day can be so overwhelming and annoying and if you're single just take a minute, step back, and make the love crazed holiday about loving yourself. Loving your family and friends. There's more to life than boyfriends and girlfriends. After everything I've been through, I've learned that I have to love myself before I can truly love a significant other. It's simply not fair to myself or the other person, because I want to be able to give all that my heart can offer someone and I know that my heart has a lot to offer and you should know that too. You are special and you are beautiful and if you don't have a significant other this Valentine's Day don't be down about it. See it as a day to love yourself. Do the things that make you happy. When the time is right, your Prince Charming will coming riding in on his horse to sweep you away into the moonlight (okay maybe not exactly that but we can always dream right?). Love is a great thing and will always be and when you get the chance to experience it, you'll never forget it. I promise.
