Who said you couldn't use heels as a decoration?

Hello lovelies! So I've recently done some at home DIY projects and I really wanted to share with you what I did! I recently moved all my things home from my apartment because next year I will be living in my sorority house, therefore, that means moving in all the cute stuff I used to decorate my apartment room with. I first was going with black, white, pink, and purple as the color scheme but the color scheme has actually changed and I've added some light green and a little blue.

I first started out with this cabinet, that does have shelves, that I bought at goodwill for $15. I was looking for something that I could place my TV on top of and also use as a decor piece. A place to put other trinkets that I have. I removed the doors and the magnetic piece that held the doors shut. I also took both shelves and painted the top with some gold spray paint that I bought at Hobby Lobby for $6. And this is how it turned out!

I'm in love with how it turned out and love the look that adding shoes to the shelves gives. I'm still working on some other decorating pieces to put on the shelves but for now I'm extremely pleased! And I only spent $21!

This was my lamp shade before the can of gold spray paint got a hold of it. I was just really over the damask  print and it wasn't matching my room in the way I wanted it too. So, instead of spending $15+ dollars on a new lampshade I decided to get creative. I wanted to add gold into my room color scheme and decided that painting the lampshade would be a great way to add color and get ride of the annoying print.

This is how the lampshade turned out. I still need to go around the bottom again with some more gold paint but I ran out before I could. So I will be fixing that very soon. Even though it didn't completely get rid of the pattern underneath, I love how you can see it through the gold paint. It's very subtle and classy.

Last, but not least I made my own flower vase. I got a mason jar at Hobby Lobby that was originally around $3 and it was 50% off so I ended up getting it for around $1.50. The gold spray paint was $6 and the expensive part were the flowers. They are fake peonies and they were $7 each. The whole thing was about $22. I love the way it turned out and it looks great with the rest of my room. I had some trouble figuring out where to put it but I finally found a home for my favorite DIY afternoon activity.

I hope this was helpful and gave you some fun ideas to do DIY projects yourself. There's nothing like making something yourself instead of buying it at the store! And a lot of the time you can make something yourself for a smaller amount of money than actually buying the same thing! Happy decorating!

xoxo, tori
